    Default Ebay findings thread?

I think a lot of us cruise ebay for machine stuff. I just found some Niagara cutters of which 9 are new and 4 used w/8hours to go and the bid is $28.00. I'm not posting it here because I think a lot of us would hate to see the forum turned into an ebay forum. Some folks might get carried away and list half the tools on ebay on seperate threads. But what if we just had one running thread, like maybe this one, where guys could post what they think some of our members would be interested in and keep them all in one thread. Therefore it wouldn't litter up the entire board. If someone did post everything on ebay at least it would be in one thread and not litter up the board with needless frivelous postings.

A simple thread title like above would be easy to do a search on if it dropped off page 1. If you aren't interested in looking then just cruise right on by. Hopefully it wouldn't become a wasteland of crap that no one gives a hoot about. What might the general consensus be?

That would work much better as a mail list than a BBS thread as BBS threads last forever - or at least long after the notice is useful.

right!....but it is alright to post the "sold" item,.... especially if you were the gloating winner!

...but if someone is asking for a certain item and a viewer notices what is in need, I feel by all means post the item.

That's what the Ebay Search feature is for.

yah, but occasionally i've been sifting through e-bay and noticed an item that someone here (or there) had just recently been inquiring about. I question then.."should i make the effort to open this board and post the ebay item just to help out the seeker?" Could I be that generous to bring to light the existence of something to assist the seeker in procuring that item?
Or do I answer myself with... "nah... they can find it themselves with a little investigative effort".

That's where I was coming from when I made the post. But as of this entry, it seems some 347 people have viewed the thread and don't feel it merits comment. I think some are concerned others here would bid against them. That don't bother me. An auction is an auction, whoever wants/needs it the most will offer top dollar. That's how it works. Looks like we'll just continue on with the everyman for himself philosophy!

Use email or a PM to the interested pary.
That way it doesn't clutter the board up forever with something that's gone and also doesn't start a heads up sniping war.
