It mostly likely, a 1 hp or less fractional hp motor as in all things after the Binford more power, the pool companies came up with some mumbo jumbo that they said was equivalent to a higher horse power motor. More flash when they are trying to sell them. The other thing is the more gallons per minute pumped the higher the horse power.
If you can't find a generic bearing to replace the one in there the brand replacements are way over priced. And with all the vents and if the bearing is rusted that means they has been a lot of water inside over time. And that just will cause more problems.
When I was fixing the pool pumps filters for the father in law years ago. And they came in like that it was a sure sign that it would be back. At least once before the season was over.
