    Default 6 Inch PVC PIPE

Question when boring the inside of this pipe how do you keep the surface finish appearing transparent or clear so to speak??? I have these 6 inch pvc diameter pipe pieces to machine, they are oval a bit ,even at 89 dollars a foot .? Now i plan on using a piece of aluminumn and turning it down (the aluminumn) to fit inside the Unmachined inside 6 inch pipe diameter THEN i am going to machine the other Half of this aluminumn fixture down to the finish inside PVC Pipe Diameter diameter minus a .001 or .002 thou. Then jam the machined end of the pvc onto the other end of the fixture and bore that half ,flip part and also switch fixture to the bored diameter and bore the other side .Whew finger typing cramp. I have 2 pieces to make and they are 6.300 inches long. Thanx Guys madman

Are you certain it is PVC and not some other plastic?

Transparent PVC will not cut to a transparent surface. You can get fairly close with a very sharp high rake tool that has a large radius but if it needs to be completely transparent then it will have to be polished after machining.

You could try Solvent polishing after machining.

    Regards Ian.
You might not like what I say,but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.

    Clear? Bummer.

I was hoping someone was going to be doing something with purple PVC pipe.

A truckload of the stuff is a real eyecatcher.

A friend of mine had good luck using regular household vegetable oil when drilling/machining acrylic plastic. You might give that a try. They were making experimental hydraulic test blocks and wanted to see what was going on through the plastic.
