I'm going to buy a Craigs list bench top drill press and toss out everything but the base, table, and column. That's going to be the start for me.

there was a very extensive build article that was reprinted in one of the projects in Metal books by VP. Not sure it went into as much detail detail on the various accessories as the Geo Thomas book though....my plans are full size (came with the castings)....inquire with the model engineering vendors, they often will sell just the plans.

nov-dec 2007 HSM has an article om a nice one made from bar stock. The plans and article seem pretty straight forward. You might look for a back copy.

Thanks but looking for the original plans. Seems to me their were some in HSM many years ago like back in the early 80`s I have seen them some where else but can`t find them.

    Default Plans or kit

    Lane,

I think you can purchase the kit or Plans only from these folks.

    Default Pillar tool kit

Martin Model sells casting kits for a 3"reach and a 6" reach pillar tool that includes an arm for the sensitive drill press attachment. The ordering information is at:
    http://www.martinmodel.com/order_for...%20%202008.pdf

I built the 6" reach version and use it for clock work and for tapping.
