    Default Probotix Parts?

After reading the thread about the cnc router I checked out their website and I have a few questions now. I'm not interested in a cnc router but I am interested in building a small cnc mini mill or 9x20 lathe some day. I have no experience building one at all though I do run cnc and manual machines for a living.

Are any of you guys using any of their cnc parts such as breakout boards, power supplies, and stepper drivers? I don't see any parts on their website to cnc a lathe with threading capabilities either. Can I use their parts and add a board from someone else to pick up the spindle position for threading or do I need to buy all of the boards from the same place. They seem to have decent prices on their boards and drivers. Any info would be appreciated.

You'll probably be better off getting the parts from the same place they get theirs. Check out , The CNC Zone, website there are dozens of suppliers of parts and software there. If your're fairly handy it isn't hard to put something together.

I have not used there products but there kits should be applicable to a mill or lathe just get the right sized kit. as far as threading you just need to hook up a speed sensor to the spindle of the mill or lathe one pulse per rev is fine.
a cnc system is a power supply breakout board motor controllers motors a computer and software. It is just a matter of adapting the motors to the machine and setting up the software.
I am just finishing up a mill project based on a gecko 540 this is a semi plug and play mother /breakout board with plug in controllers just hook up a PS and plug the motors in then load the XLm file into Mach 3. Keiling engineering has package setups based on the 540 the G 540 is made in USA take a look just a satisfied customer.
