Default Comment/Opinon On These Material Prices Please...

The fellow who runs Minilathe Dot Comhas set up some sort of arrangement with a screw machine shop to sell bar ends.

Assuming the descriptions are accurate are these prices any good? The brass caught my eye as I am currently making some sample pieces for a fellow, it has the potential to turn into a 100+ piece job per week. What about the other materials?

A quick look at McMaster-Carr shows a 12" length of 1-1/4 for about 35$. Do you know what you're getting? An assortment with a couple of pieces of 1-1/4 would make it a better deal than Mc-C.

I used to buy grab bags of electronics parts. Most never got used.

An assortment of brass probably would get used up in time. Could you be certain that a grab bag would satisfy the needs of your 100 piece-a-week project?

As long as I got pieces bigger than 1/8 inch, part is "slightly smaller" than 1/8th.

I'll email the fellow in the morning for more information.

If you want 360 or 6061 call Admiral Metals in Woburn, Mass. They sell brass remnants for about $4/lb mostly in 12" lengths and usually have a good selection of diameters. I know they ship but if they are going to kill you on the prices I'd be happy to go there and pick some items out and send them to you.

I just might take you up on that. I'll know Friday if the job is "go" or not.
