    Default new to me vertical mill (FREE NO CHARGE)

    I was on craigslist and seen an add for free (yes free) millin chicago. I replyed and was the first one he said there was onr problem it was in his basement. The mill is a 3hp comet vertical mill twin to the bridgeport. the mill is in exclent shape see for yoursef.

    the mill came with powerfeed, digital readout, and a dunmore grinder, a one shot lube and manual

    the only problem is the gear on the ram that turns the head is stripped so i need to find a new one. I was told a bridgeport would work.




    forgot to mention a static phase converter

    That might just qualify you for the Gloat of The Year Award.

    I would bitch about the phase convertor though, he should have thrown in a VFD.

    and yes it was moved on the dolly it did not bend the 1 1/2" solid axil till unloading.

    ya i thought it should have come with at least a royery phase converter LOL
    no i am very happy with everything i got i could not stop saying THANK YOU

    SERIOUS score! what is http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...joiner/052.jpg ? is it some kinda high speed spindle addon? or tapper?

    that striped gear looks dubious, like it never meshed enough with its other gear enough, and that if the adjustment was made it should be able to still mesh with a gear more or less (But thats just one noobs opionion)

    man though your ways look like GOLD, and the power feed? You're gonna love that.

    Get a VFD though belt changes suck. lol at spare belts included though.

    man, iv seen more rust on NEW mills.

    Black_Moons it is a dumore grinder with i think is a lathe holder but he says it goes with the mill.

    The gear in the picture shows some wear but doesn't appear to be stripped. Is there are bad section on the other side?

    Free huh. Sorry I heard about that.
