Default If the gear is damaged on non visible side...

Drill another hole 180 from present one, rotate it 180 degrees, reinstall. Most people never need to use head upside down...

There is nothing wrong with the gear for rotatingthe head left and right.
as i recall, they are machined to the configuration.

Also, if it was worn, it would not be that even.

Congrats! The flaking on the column looks good, too.

The worm gear looks fine, unless there's a gouge on the top of the first picture in the third post.

Agreed the gear looks good. Inspect , and if all is ok, just put it together and use it.

Wow, just curious, were there any unusual characteristics about this generous person, or was he just evicting some deadbeat tenants possessions? I'm gonna scour CL ten times a day now.

this is the first tadpole cant afford a new one so thought i would try and build one. neighbor down the street has one and i thought it was cool.

The person was very nice and and he told me he paid $1500 for it 7 years ago. He just wanted his space back in his basement.
