    Default Wood working and engineering

A friend of mine sent me two videos of a wood working contest, as he put it, posed to some engineers. Here are links to the videos. One is a walking table and the other is an expanding table.

Both are interesting but the expanding table perked my interest. If only they gave the secret away and showed the insides. While I could guess how the mechanism worked, I would enjoy seeing the final design.

Just thought that I would pass these along.

    Cheers!

that is neat! i could definitely see some uses for the expanding table. i could never have one of those walking tables in my house because my kids would have it walked all over the place.

The expanding table is pretty darn clever. I wonder how durable the mechanism is - lots of heavy moving parts and precise mitered fits.

Probably just show pieces more than actual functional furniture. Although, I'd love to have that for the dinning room.
