OT MS Office to Jpeg

Having spent hours over the last two days to get 3 pages of excel to display on this board there must be an easier way. In the end I printed to pdf then used a trial to get to jpeg, but tried loads of different products that didn't work or obliterated the document with a watermark.

Any one know of a good freeware converter for xcel or pdf to jpeg or low cost <$10 can they tell us.

PDF to jpeg use Foxit Reader. Excel to jpeg use alt+PrtSc and then paste in your favorite image editor.

If your computer uses Windows Vista or Windows 7, just use the 'snipping' tool; it's already part of the operating system and effortless to use.

If the contents of your Excel file fits on the screen, or at least the part you want to share does, use the Print Screen function.


Open your Excel file.

If there are multiple pages, select the desired page.

Hold down the ALT key (this excludes everything else on the screen from being captured) and press the "Print Screen" button. (on my keyboard it is just to the right of F12. It should be somewhere close to that on yours.)

Now open MSPaint. (may be called Paint or Paintbrush depending on your version of Windows but I believe typing mspaint in RUN will open it in all versions.)

Now we need to paste. Press CTRL+V or select "Paste" from the edit menu.

You should now see the image you captured from Excel.

Select save with the JPG extention.


You now have an image of your document. This works in most other programs too.

Even easier: sweep the section of the spreadsheet you want to capture. Right-click -> Copy.

Then open up your image viewer (IrfanView, MS Paint, Corel,...) and click Paste.

Then just save it as a image.

BTW, for images with a lot of text and/or line drawings, GIF or PNG will look better.

I tried irfanview, downloaded it with all the tools, and installed it.

Never got it to DO anything........ it kept complaining that it needed links to the editor and the thiswidget and the thatwidget... it didn't DO anything.

I suspect I had a basic failure to 'get it", since my wife's AUNT can use it, and she is about as computer savvy as an antique quilt.....

Jerry, IrfanView is just an image viewer, like MS Paint. You still need to cut and paste to get the Excel spreadsheet into the Windows clipboard.
