So, you remove the winch in transit and put it where?
What do you use for winch power?
Nice job.
Satisfying to know your winch is safe from thieves when left unattended.
Looks like a good strong mount capable of dealing with anything the winch can throw at it and with the pull of one pin it's in the truck.
Just make sure the trailer is secured too, or is that what the chain is for?
Lots of people loosing trailers lately complete with a load of ATVs, boats, or snowmobiles. Surprisingly very few people lock their trailers, have no problem leaving $10-$30,000 on it, and are then surprised when it disappears.
The winch will go in my cross bed box on my truck.Originally Posted by camdigger
I just use a portable battery for now, I won't be using it very often.
I did this project for a one time job and to keep me out of trouble. Idle hands and all that.

You'll likely find faaaarrrr to useful for a one time deal.......I need to rig up something like that.......always seem to find dead treasures.......er junk as my wife puts it........
Opportunity knocks once, temptation leans on the doorbell.....
Interesting? BUT... that winch is the proper size to ....
Make that the "gin pole" upper winch, a chainfall or other lifting device to lift..
Come back about two feet from the rear of the trailer, put two swivel mounts, one each side, take 12' 1 1/2 or 2" hw tube, tie they together at the top with a chain and attache lifting device there.. When the gin poles get close to vertical, make sure the machine tool is only a inch or so off the trailer deck..
Can pick up a ton I know and set it onto the trailer. Not tried more.
The more my wrecker sits (mobile crane), the more I see it as dead weight and paid insurance premiums.
It will bolt on the trailer hitch of a car, on the front if you put a 2x2 reciever, your various tools can go into the same socket.. I love that kinda tool mount. Mine are mostly vertical, but.. I made a adapter too.. a piece of 2" welded to a 90 with a vertical.. this allows you to put your tube bender, or strap bender, or beater bag there on the stable (heavy) socket mount for a winch.
The perfect trailer, can haul manure, lathes, race cars, junk to scrapyard with equal ease. Mine still needs work.
Excuse me, I farted.
That winch idea is priceless! A nice trailer is something that I have been meaning to build for a long time.
