    Default Machinery Moving Gloat

I have not had a good tool gloat in a while so I thought I would share this one. I am going to try to move the shop this year and there are several very heavy things that are not on wheels so I have been keeping my eyes open for some good skates or dollies. Ended up finding a pair of rolalifts. I am not sure of their rating but the casters are good for over 10,000 pounds for the set. They did not have the straps with them so I need to order a set.

nice, picked up a pair the same way, think mine were rated for 10k or something also. all I know is that they weigh about 250lbs a piece and they were on the second story of a warehouse with a broken elevator and stairway. the seller just pushed them out the second story load dock and they fell to the muddy ground. (this is after I paid him) they barely got scratched. no straps either, the jacks were removed prior to their flight

Heh! A tool gloat is not a gloat unless the price paid is included!

I agree. It's right there in chapter 2 of the Tool Gloat Bylaws.

I don't suppose either of you two would like to swing by this weekend, with those rol-a-lifts, for a machine moving session?

A lot of rental places actually have them as well as skates around here. Going rate is about $75 per day and they are worth it.

A few pieces of 1 1/2" pipe do a good job for moving around the shop.

I know Mike. I am sure he tried to get the former owner of these Rol-a-lifts to pay him to take them off his hands. I am also sure he sounded sincere during the negotiation . Since he now owns them, I am guessing the price was pretty low if he paid anything at all.
