Now the question is; what is this one used for other than cutting a .5" wide by .5" deep 90° V groove?? I can't find anything like it in my catalogues.

You answered your own question, it is a V groove cutter!
Also handy for chamfering both edges of thin slots at once, or wider slots with 2 passes...
or two outside edges in two passes....
Chamfering, or making a nice sharp 90 degree inside corner.
also makes a great paperweight.![]()

Middleby Marshall pizza oven drive shafts have that very cut the length of the shaft where the conveyor chain is driven by multiple sprockets. The set screws tighten into the v groove and when tightened will not raise the metal the way it would on a shaft without a flat or something, and the sprockets are easy to move up and down the shaft for adjusting the position of the conveyor chain going thru the oven.![]()
