    Default Minor Tool Gloat

I was at the local Habitat for Humanity store yesterday and spotted a Prest-O-Lite torch sitting on the shelf, so I snatched it up. I used one years ago for soldering in an instrument repair shop I worked in and I've been wanting one ever since. This is a minor gloat because the hose on it is severely dry rotted and needs to be replaced, I need a smaller tip (has a #3 on it), and I still need to buy a regulator and a B tank. All of those things will definitely cost more than the $7.00 I paid for the torch. All things considered though, I'm happy! Here is the requisite photographic proof.

I have an old book from 1937 thats shows plans how to make a torch/welder like that.

I want one that I can run off the natural gas from my house. it would be handy as all get out.

One of my suppliers sells some natural gas/air torches. I'll see if I can find the catalog and scan the pictures.
