knobs. i used to save everyone i found. then i had to adapt plans to fit what i had. then came the internet and i had to search multiple vendors to find what i needed. now i just make whatever the heck i need when i need it. if i have a saved one that will work i use it,if not, i make one. aluminum, brass, steel a SHCS,and some loc-tite make good knobs for indicators and other finger-tight things. 5/16 press-fit,loc-tite knobs begin to be too big to tighten without loosening after a while.

I think it is a neat project but... I just can't get into use these things. We have them in the shop but they are just too bulky for me.

I bought one of these. Made a longer middle section. Now that is about the only thing I use.

We used to have apprentices make ones similar to these. Good skills learned, close fitting slots, precision holes, clocking/alignment. There are boxes of parts they did wrong.
