    Default Leadscrew Wiper?

I'm in the early stages of a refresh of my Fray 10RH mill. Got the table off, and have a question about what I'm looking at.

The left hand rib in the saddle that the X screw passes, has what I think is a felt wiper sticking out of the left hand side. Is this correct? I would also guess that the allen head setscrew is a means to remove backlash? The rib on the right is empty where the screw passes, should there not be wipers as well?

    Thanks
    Andy

There should not be a wiper on the right hand side, and perhaps there should on the left.

What I thought was a felt wiper, was actually the X nut -

It was so caked with dried oil and swarf, that it seemed spongy.

    : black eye :

Hope to get the saddle off this weekend.
