I use SearchTempest, but don't like the way it takes forever to do a search. They recently changed some settings & it's slower than before.
Have to try this new one.

I haven't always been a nurse.........
Actually, I will be even more interested in how any Puritans who use or used Craigslist for any purpose at all - including looking for buying/selling "machining goods" - can reconcile using it given the "sleaze" that has been a prime activity and revenue-spinner for CL for quite some time.
I think I saw in print this week the eBay are very interested in buying CL and that eBay has some similar search facilities for "undesirable" sites and activities.
Have a read of this lot - its a good read:

Yep. Just scored a 1889/1890 vintage Seneca Falls Star 2 9x36 cone head lathe this past weekend, apparently one of the oldest ones out there, in good condition thanks to craiglook. Around here, machine tools just don't show up local and searching a large radius just isn't practical without these sites that retrofit craigslist with basic search functionality.
Edit: fix typo
that interests you? For me its in the who gives a crap department. Actually, to take if further, its the puritans that are the problem. Most of the misery and ills to society from victimless crimes, be it drugs or prostitution stem from the the fact that puritans have made them against the law making their management and supply the purview of the unsavory....the result of making something illegal that is going to happen anyway is to ensure that it is taken over and controlled by criminals.Originally Posted by oldtiffie
Perhaps I was not "explicit" (sorry - couldn't resist it) enough.
If the "Puritans" who lecture (try to "stand-over"?) some of us use CL knowing that it is highly probable that the "machining" categories are probably (certainly?) either fully or partially funded by the "sleaze" categories, it means as they and their use of CL are supported by "immoral earnings" that they should not be using CL at all. It is not a long stretch to say that they are at least in part profiting (or reducing the real cost of the services they use) by those same "immoral" services.
I am not at all interested in how the "immoral services" earnings are regulated or not, just how any who use CL services subsidised in full or part by those services justify it if they object to the sources of those funds.
My position is that I am not judgmental and if I see a need to use CL - for "machining" only (of course!!), I will use it and I certainly will not condemn any others who do either.
I just simply do not like those who judge or condemn me if they have double or multiple standards and use them selectively to suit themselves and the occasion/s as they see it.
My "brother/s" and I are not each others keeper/s - and its staying that way.

Like that one, I normally use search tempest, but like the way that one provides thumbnails. Helps to eliminate a lot of false hits.
Only improvement I can see would be to increase the range. though you could easily leapfrog by using zip code along your route. I often search 600+ miles away before heading out on a road trip
On false hits, Try searching for a product that has a persons name. I like Alan bicycles, was pretty surprised at how many people named Alan sell bicycles on Craig's list.

Seeing how the thread has turned since I made my post I want to make it perfectly clear I use it for machine related searches only!
This ad did show up in my mailbox and I know some of you guys might fit right in.

Thank you to our families of soldiers, many of whom have given so much more then the rest of us for the Freedom we enjoy.
It is true, there is nothing free about freedom, don't be so quick to give it away.
way to go....now the poor gal's going to get 100 responses from need-to-be-right males who's idea of fun is grease under the finger nails and hanging out in the garage basement....who knows what therapy will be required and her view of the male species may never recover![]()
