    Default Emco Compact 5 lathe spindel

    Looking for information Emco Copact 5 lathe. I need a drawing of the
    headstock spindel bolt hole lay out. Anyone have the dimensions?

    I need to make a new adaptor plate for a new 3 jaw chuck.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    William....Measuring my Compact 5, the spindle is 40mm diameter, bored 16mm. On the mounting face there are six 5mm tapped holes (0.8mm pitch) on a 29mm PCD - 4 holes are at 90 degree spacing for the 4-jaw chuck; the other 2 holes are spaced 120 degrees from one of the first-mentioned 4 holes, thus providing the holes for the 3-jaw and the collett adaptor.

    As my machine is quite old, can I suggest you check the PCD by screwing in two M5 bolts or cap screws into 2 holes that are 180 degrees apart and measure the distance between them on the outside, subtracting the diameter of one bolt / screw to get the PCD.
