I think once I get the other leaks sealed on this one I can leave it charged all the time.
I retired the old one because it is a noisy SOB! It's actually a recent-made Craftsman Pro 33-gallon oilless, still looks new. It's that Oilless part that I don't like - high-speed motor in the shop is like having a siren in a tin can.
But it will make a good backup.
Back at the house I have a little $89 HF unit. I may swap it to Mom for an older US-made equivalent she has in the garage.

Funny, Nope It has a drain on the bottom, I used to try and drain it weekly especially after using it heavily where it ran constantly, never got any water out of it, just air. Now I just open monthly or whenever I think of it.

Between the low humidity here and the old Westinghouse that runs pretty cool, little to no condensate

OK, I admit I just drained it after at neglecting it for at least 90 days, I got something out of it, unfortunately it was a little oil, I guess it's time to start thinking about a new compressor, or maybe a rebuild of the antique Westinghouse.

I would never have any confidence in a new tank that had a pinhole and I would have to scrap it. Just not worth the risk.

I've seen what happens when they break. It's not worth it as you say.

If your case level doesn't drop much, I wouldn't worry about it. I get blow by oil in my tank from time to time and I know my rings are good and the bores are flawless. You've gotta have a little play or the piston wouldn't move.
