Bridgeport `way wiper` felt guard
I have recently purchased a S1 bridgeport milling machine which required a little work, it is my first `upgrade` from the Warco all in one, but I need some info/advice if possible?
Basically I am trying to get hold of some ready cut felt guards that are attached to the table and sweep the ways clear of swarf and prevents it entering the mechanism.....I have found them in american catalogues but am struggling over here, admittidly i have been lazy and just relied on the internet searches...
Would anyone know where I can get these? I could just make them out of gasket paper but would prefer the pre cut OE type.
I personally dont like felt wipers. They catch grit. I replaced mine with these:
Work real good and keep the ways very clean.
I used piano "Check Felt" from here :-
the peice i got from them is enough for a lifetime , will do the bridgeport and my lathes several times over .
1 metre long by 100mmm wide 4mm thick
cant remember what it cost though ..but think it was under £20
all the best.markj
I just buy F2 felt from McMaster and cut my own.
I bought a set either on eBay or at http://www.machinerypartsdepot.com/.
Are you in Kent England, or Georgia USA ?
Makes a difference
Many thanks for responses, i`ll try and get a set but thinking about it could be just as easy and more economical to make a couple sets.....depends on cost, as usual, i guess.
Folkestone, Kent, England......
