    Default welding Stainless with Oxy-Acetylene

Can 304 stainless be welded with an oxy-acetylene torch?

Yes, it is weldable with an O/A torch. Use the proper flux and TIG filler rod. If not near a welding supply, Tinman sells this flux for stainless. His products are excellent and reasonably priced.

It takes some practice. This is 10 gage 304 stainless with TIG:

Lap joint, same material/thickness. Colors are a bit washed-out by the flash, but you get the idea:

HERE is a copy of Chapter 18 from the Linde Oxy-Acetylene Handbook that was referenced in the linked thread.

    Default Cobra

I asked about the heat shield but they didn't have any in stock and advised me to make one a save a few dollars - which I did.

They provide very good support here in OZ.

Its a good kit. I use mine instead of my standard O/A kit and it saved me buying a TIG set and so saved me floor space and another rental bottle (for TIG).
