It would be pretty funny if it weren't getting to be the norm. Race to the bottom for "general labour" like tig welding. At least that was the heading it was listed under.

I consider tig welding a little above general labor.

I wonder if the person doing the hiring has any idea what tig welding is.

I think its crazy that they are trying to get a TIG welder for $13/h. Around here Walmart employees almost make that much...

How do you figure that. Good Tig welders, those that can weld the more difficult alloys and do it backhanded by using a mirror to see what they are doing and do it neatly to x-ray quality are far and few between compared to other trades. This kind of welding is the most difficult of any trade.

It's just as crazy to hire someone as cheaply as possible as it is to bargain hunt at Wallyworld for the lowest price!! As long as there's a line 10 deep to do a given job it doesn't matter what anyone esteems they should be paid for their skill.

Now that should get this thread careening into heated territory

I think by "a little" he meant "a lot." Kind of like "calculus is a little harder than basic arithmetic." But, I'm just guessing.

Maybe he's advertising for tig welding foremen - someone to supervise them, not to actually do any welding?

    Dunno...
