Does anyone recognize this tool changer? I happened upon it at a school auction

Might be for an emco.
Unfortunately you can not post for sale items here.

It is not really for sale. If I could find out who made it maybe I could run down the pin out and try to get it to work on my machines.
Why not just DMM the pins?Originally Posted by plugginaway
it looks like a standard 4 wire stepper (Count the leads comming outta it..)
You'll find two wires with low resistance (tens to hundreds of ohms) to eachother. those are the two coils.
The white and black wire are a little bit of a mystery, often theres an optical encoder or somesuch, but that needs 3 or 4 wires.
Might be a switch for indicating when it rotates around to 0 point.. Dmm it with ohm meter and spin it? see if it ever changes. (Idealy try continuity check so it beeps instantly, no waiting for screen to refresh)
Looks to me like it's just a stepper motor that's geared to rotate the tool holder.
edit: perhaps the blk and wht wires just go to a microswitch to indicate the (any) tool is actually in the correct position?

I cut it twice, and it's still too short!

not an Emco, or at least not the CNC Compact 5
