steam- electric generator
This is probably covered territory, but I'm intrigued. Here, my caveats: I know that a wood fired boiler will need a lot of stoking. I know that a steam engine is only about 30% efficient.
But...
What if the wheels fall off the wagon and gas/propane/diesel is unavailable?
I want to make/buy/find a wood-fired vertical boiler (or other), and a steam engine to turn a 5 horse, 3 phase motor at designated RPM (plus), to generate electricity.
Anyone out there got any suggestions? Websites of folks who have already done it would be most appreciated. Sources for wood boilers would be all the more appreciated!
Many thanks,
