Default Wright Patterson Air Force Museum Virtual Tour

I don't think this has been posted before. It is a virtual tour of the Wright Pat Air Force museum in Dayton, Ohio. Click on a spot on the map to go to a location, click on map to raise it and scroll around. You can identify some of the planes by placing the cursor on them and "fly" through by using the left mouse button. Excellent tour, see you tomorrow.

Thanks Jim, I have work to do now so I won't look at it yet but I look forward to doing so.

My wife and I have been there twice and we both loved it. It's at least one place where our tax dollars are being put to good use!

My brother and I spent an afternoon there a couple of years ago. I only wish we had more time that trip. The museum pretty much covers the history of aviation. Well worth the time to see it.

Wow, you must've been running the whole time. We got there before they opened the doors, ate lunch there and they had to run us off at the end of the day...still didn't get enough!

A very interesting and well done site, Thanks for the post.

The SEA portion has particular relevance to me. In 'viewing' that area, I found what I thought was an intriguing omission, as well as an important development and aspect of US air operations, gunships.....

Not a single Spooky (AC-47), Stinger (AC-119) or Spectre (AC-130), perhaps just a little too sinister for a museum?

One of the finest museums in the world and its also free. The museum foundation is anticipating having a 4th hanger completed in 2014.

There's an AC-130A outside in the airpark. I found the presence of the EC-135E interesting, I flew on 60-0375.

About 20 years ago, I made a trip to the Air Force Museum. I spent a half of a day getting oriented, a full day looking at everything, reading everything and taking it all in. Then another full day just taking pictures. I only regret that I ran out of time.

I'm not sure which is most impressive, the space capsules or the B-36. Ike's presidential plane, a Lockheed Constellation, is probably the most graceful and poetically beautiful aircraft in the collection, but then, the Douglas X-3 has it's own perverse beauty, too.

All of the displays were extremely well done, and the staff was most helpful and informative. I want to go back.
