Hobby machinist forum gone.

I just read a post about the Hobby Machinist forum on HMEM. I checked it out and sure enough the forum is gone. Somehow I'm not suprised. There were a lot of really good members on that site though.

Sad because there was really a lot of good members and camaraderie there. I really wish that he'd given some warning and/or offered it up to someone else to handle, I'd have been willing.

Nope, this one: http://www.hobby-machinist.com/. Odd they would suddenly disappear like that. Wonder what happens to the photos and stuff some of us posted???

Not HMEM, it was Hobby-Machinist.com.

I discovered the site a few weeks ago and it really looked like a great place for neophyte machinists. It appeared to be a good mix of experienced machinists like myself and new comers and was loaded with good information and downloads. I even shot a few videos on basic machining practices that were so well received that I had plans for several more. I was very surprised when I visited the site this morning and found it shut down. Not sure why the shutdown wasn't announced ahead of time to give people time to tie up loose ends. It seems like a very poor way to end something that so many people had contributed to. I'm sure a few other Hobby Machinist "orphans" will drift in over the next few days.

So...what's this place all about?

That's really weird. When I checked it earlier there was an announcement from Nelson? that the site was shut down.

There is a whinge by nelson about how poorly the world is treating him but no real explanation of the problem.
