I spoke with George just the other day at the pub. He says the family is fine and oh yea, about the mag. He said it would be better off in my hands.

Thank you to our families of soldiers, many of whom have given so much more then the rest of us for the Freedom we enjoy.

It is true, there is nothing free about freedom, don't be so quick to give it away.

    Evan,

Thanks for the offer, but we have one back at the office already. Wonder how many of the radial arm saw/surface grinder projects were actually made.

    PS. YOD is lying.

Mine wasn't inspired by this article but it works a treat. It is in no way a precision tool but it is far better than the surface people get from a belt sander. I recall getting a lot of flack from non-believers when I discussed mine here but unless you've tried it you won't know what the facts are.

And when you're done grinding it's still a pretty good saw!

Hmmmmm, I wonder if I put a plate of soft metal on the table of my shaper and sprinkled it with abrasive grit then put my workpiece on top and somehow arranged for the shaper ram to shove it back and forth would I get a nice ground surface?

You can put a float with polishing compound on the shaper and get a nice lap finish on the work.
