    Default First Tool Gloat

Well, Santa Claus came early....Today, he showed up in a big brown truck, and left a package at my door.

It's the new replacement caliper for my old (30 years) Mitutoyo #500-351 "Digimatic" electronic caliper.

Mitutoyo said the old caliper was beyond repair, when I sent it in, but offered me a significant discount on a new replacement. So here it is.....

    No good deed goes unpunished.

    Nice!

    Mine's a 500-196 and it's only about 10 years old.
They cost $50 less than I paid now.

That's a very nice caliper at a reasonable price too.

I hope you get 30 good years out of that one too.

A big thing is that it is not only of Mitutoyo quality but has a USA Mitutyo warranty and service and spares if needed. That all adds value and confidence to a tool.

My 1-2" mic is a green enameled Mit with a .0001 vernier and carbide faces. It is going on 35 + years as I got it used in 1977 and has served me well. Very good tools.

Saltmine, those are nice units, I've had the same one for I think 6 or 7 years now and its been rock solid for me.
