I doubt you will find parts. You may find a whole machine but with the high price of scrap it won`t be cheap.
Gears you can make or buy standards and modify.
Steadies are really scarce.Best chance is make an adapter to use a readily available steady.

picture of missing gears and welded shaft

any suggestions on where to get gears or parts for lathe?
i could have a bash at making them but how could i make gearcutter on the cheap side??
i have a dividing head on my mill but have not used it yet so would be a big job for me anyway..

    Hi
You can buy blank gears from HPC.If you`re replacing a gear with a splined bore.Turn the old gear down and use what`s left as a bush for the new gear.
You can make gears on the mill quite easily with an involute cutter and your dividing head.
Or you could ask John Stevenson to cut one for you or just for advice.John knows his gears and loads of different ways to do them.
Looking at the picture you only seem to need three gears,or is there more welded than the one I can see?

the one on the bottom right of the picture has been welded to the input shaft on the bottom left of the picture.
i was hoping to cut it away and save that gear but getting into it may be the problem.
i will probably need 3 gears as one other is not in very good condition.
one is missing so i will have to figure out what size it is and how many teeth!!
i'll try HPC and let you know how i get on
    thanks again

The one that is missing is not too much of a problem. If you engage the carrier lever in it`s hole you can measure the centre of the pin to the teeth on the corresponding gear in the stack.Do it at two or three positions to prove the size.in fact even easier is to measure the centres of the splined shaft and the pin where the missing gear goes, look up what gear will mesh with the stripped one at these centres and Bob`s your mothers brother.Tables for working out gears etc are on HPC Gears website.
If you`re not sure what I mean you can ring me.Contact details are on my website www.ems-fife.co.uk or PM me for the number.
