Welding cast iron

Has anyone used this method of welding cast iron?

Looks as if it may be useful for plugging a hole but would be worthless for a section that requires any strength beyond what solder can hold (not very much!).

Never heard that one. I now use a cast iron mig wire and it works perfect...Bob
