Default Source for quality web belts & buckles?

Not the cheap-o plated ones but solid brass like they should be with good quality, long lasting fabric belting.

I have one good buckle left and it's getting tired. I'd really like to find a source for quality stuff and don't mind paying for it.

assuming you are talking belts/buckles for pants (the "belt" part threw me when I started reading...I was thinking wider belting for say cone lathes)

not sure as to webbing, most I could find reference to were leather belt

Oh, and if one is into re-enactment they have period correct pieces too

    Cool site Russ, thanks!

I was referring to the military style woven cotton belts with the "flip-over" clasp buckle.

I have worn nylon web belts and solid brass buckles for years. Here is my favorite. Just about indestrucible: http://brigade-quartermasters.amazon...B0001VRXX0.htm

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for but unfortunately everything is listed as "Out of stock."

Ya' gotta be a member to buy from them?

Cabelas, Sportsman's, Bass Pro and the like have web belts. Great for fishing, (do not have to worry about the leather stretching when you get wet.

I have the same buckle that the USMC gave me in boot camp back in '69, and have been wearing it daily for many years. It's solid brass and is completely different from Army belt buckles. Replacement belts are another story. I once got belts from the Boy Scout stores, but their belts have been not as good as they once were. Then I found the Marine Corps Store -- I think it's this one: http://www.thecorpsstore.com/. (That site is blocked at work so I can't try it to be sure.) They're original USMC belts, high quality and come with a regulation buckle.

This is the USMC belt and buckle:
    http://www.paradestore.com/detail.aspx?ID=961

They appear to be in stock.

The military has many different style of belt buckles but a very limited set of belts. The one listed above is for trousers. The USMC has a distinctive style of buckle and it really is the strongest and, IMO, the best looking. Beware of buying imitations. There are some incredibly crappy web belts out there. The original new USMC web belts is quite dense and stiff. It would be a good idea to wash it in hot water and tumble dry before first use. It will get stiffer and denser after washing but eventually it will get more supple. They do also eventually wear out and will fray on the edges. All you need to do is buy a new belt. The buckles last just about forever. I have had mine over thirty years. Depending on how much you use the belt it will last anywhere from six months to years before replacement is necessary.
