Talking OT: Got some good news today!

I've been having some belly pains on & off for a while and when I finally saw a G.I. doc (turned out to be a customer of the dealership I work for) he set me up for a colonoscopy (I was way overdue for one) and an upper G.I. endoscopy. I've been really scairt something bad was wrong even though the symptoms were mostly gone by the time the procedure date rolled around.

Anyway, after it was over he said the lower end was clean as a whistle with no polyps or unusual growths. YAY, what a relief! However, he said I do have a stomach ulcer but that it was easily treatable with medication. I can deal with that!

The Perkins "Tremendous Twelve" breakfast I had afterward and a day off from work capped it all off. (Not really, I got about half of it down and took the rest home.)

Glad everything turned out good for you. I got a chuckle thinking about the Eddie Murphy Movie when they were all talking about needing their colons cleansed. Been there done that, but I'm due again next year.

I just got violated from both ends too. Been having heartburn problems for quite a while so I let them have their fun.
The day before isn't the best tho.

Yep, been there done that. Just after I turned 50 my primary care physician met me in the hallway outside the exam rooms after my annual physical. She had my chart in her hands and a "look" on her face. She said "How old are you Stan?" She knew good & well I had just turned 50 and I told her. She handed me my orders and had a nurse set up the appointment. The day of is not so bad, its the day before I'd like to avoid.

About 5 years later I ended up being admitted with diverticulitis. Boy that hurts. Had two colonsocopies within 4 months of that episode. None were fun.

Glad things went well for you. With my family history this is a procedure I'm all too familiar with.

Somewhere around here I have a list, compiled by a doctor, of funny things said by colonosopy patients during their procedures. One that always comes to mind is, "Hey Doc!! Any sign of those trapped miners??!!"

years ago I was having stomach pains, did the meds for a while, but solved the problem when I quit a business where I had partners, and started my own business where I worked by myself. Seems that I was more pleasant to be around then they were.

I believe in Doctors ability, to suck your wallet dry. I only go when I absolutly have to. I never had one until I blew out my back lifting logs the power co left and still only go for that.

Theere's a HUGE leason to be learned from that story!

Almost all pains and ailments have a root cause that's mental or emotional in nature, and they can be fixed by addressing them in that manner.
But unfortunately from cradle to grave we're taught otherwise; that the "fix" comes from doctors and pills. So we waste trillions of dollars chasing elusive cures that seldom work.
