Machinery's Handbook will also give you all the data on Morse tapers. I have made several locating centers for my rotary table by machining whatever I need from the shanks of old Morse drill bits. The shank of a high speed drill bit is usually machinable.

    Post Morse taper question

    Hello
My 7x10 mini lathe takes a 2MT. in the tailstock and my 6" rotary table takes a 2MT. in its center, I would like to make some tooling to fit the rotary table, so I took dimensions of the taper on the live center, and found that the bottom could be around .613" and at a linear length of 1.55" the top of the taper would be around .687" so using my cad program I made a template out of paper with a centerline and guaged it to my crosslide, locked the carriage and I cut the taper and it came out very good Now my question is I don't have any tooling with a 3MT. my lathe headstock takes the 3MT. so if anyone could give me dimensions of the taper the linear lenghth can not be longer then 1 3/4" or I'll run out of compoundslide travel, so if someone could give me the dimensions of the 3MT. for a lenghth of 1.5" I could then take that dimensional ratio and try to adjust that to making a taper to fit my lathe.
Is the 3MT. the same angle of taper as the 2MT, only with a wider body of shafting, or are they 2 different angles entirely?

    Thankyou...

will give you all the information you need.

Note that *all* MT angles are different.
