It appears to have three arms on the table. Are those all for hold downs or do they serve other purposes?

Go for it chardy I would like to see your work when done. I assure you it's good fun but hard work, however when finished it is nice to stand back and feel you've done a good job regards Chardy and try it you won't regret it. Alistair

It's nice to have a bit of colour in the shop it breaks things up.
I served my time with REME [Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers ] but as a civilian.
EVERTHING we had was painted Eau-de-neal, that ****ty lime green colour.
Even now after all these years seeing this makes me want to throw up.

We had two brand new Colchesters delivered while I was there. First thing they did was to repaint these over the original machine grey. Crap paint appied with a yard brush at 10 paces, no masking, paint everything .............. [shudder ]

No wonder you are shuddering John makes you wonder what some people think is nice.I had a friend of mine once bought a brand new guitar first thing he did was take a screwdriver and make a mssive scratch down it's back his theory was it made it more difficult to steal.I never got over that as I could not afford one then and desperately wanted even a cheap on this was a Gibson.Alistair ps I collect Guitars now

Chardy - If necessary, you can still get parts for the die filer. Oliver of Adrian is still in business and has parts for your die filer, in all probability. They have a website. If you write them, they can probably tell you who the first purchaser of the machine was and when it was made.

I live about 35 min. away from Adrian mi. I have stopped in to talk to the people of Oliver of Adrian, nice folks;got some good info.and prices on some materials. But they didn't have any manuals-parts lists for my HD45 filer,it's the big pedestal model, prewar.I did get manual-parts list from Angelo in Pittsburg;expensive, but useful.I did go out to my studio and sprayed the unit, keep cleaning and wrenching.
