    Nice photo. If I looked thru my old Model Engineer magazines, I could probably tell you the make. And we complain about imported machines.

    It's an early Drummond 3.5 inch "B type" - still lots of them around. Similar but not as good as the successor the M type.

    Judging from the guy's clothes,the ski's and the board contruction plus the what appears to be snow packed in nooks and the use of a treadle lathe right next to a perfectly good dc motor I'm thinking polar expedition?

    That DC motor looks like a generator (for lighting) being run from the engine in the background. It would certainly be dark in there with no windows. I'd agree it looks like a polar expedition.

    Oh ya,your right that is an engine in the corner driving the generator,didn't see that this a.m.,it was early,to me anyway
    I just need one more tool,just one!
