Accident at work

Well I did a good one today,hammering away on a cold chiesil when a piece shot off the striking end and when into my left fore arm.

It was a good faily new one with no mushrooming on the end,but it still flaked off a chip and got me.Went to the emergency room and the doc set me up for a consult with the general surgen tommorow,thats when they will decide it it stays or needs to go,if it stays I can go back to work Friday,if it has to come out then I go back to work in two weeks.Wish me luck.

Which way do you want the luck to go? You want the two weeks or do you want to go to work Fri?
Realy I don't believe they make chisels the way they use to. I think the head on some of them are too hard.

Geez couldn't you get it out with some long nose pliers. Your lucky it didn't hit a more delacate spot. I hope it was a quality cold chisel, don't want just any rubbish stuck in your arm.

Sorry to hear about that Wierd. Do as I do and say, "Sure glad it wasn't in my eye". I remember when that happened to my uncle. It is a miracle we don't get hurt everyday!

Good luck and hope all turns out well for you. Not being a doctor I can't say what they should do but if it were me I would want it taken out. Embedded pieces of steel have a way of migrating around in your body over time.

I am a big old tattooed up boy with a nose that has been broken 13 times. Kickboxed, had numerous broken bones, road rash.. BUT:

When they brought the tray in to sew my finger up with the hypodermic on it. I got sick to my stomach.

Hope you did better. I felt like a baby. More embarrassed then sick I think.
