In all the years and forums I've been on for a wide variety of topics, there's only been 2 names I ever put on ignore, and they were for the same person with multiple alias (personalities?). It's not that they offended me, it's just that the gibberish they wrote was of zero value and I kept getting sucked into reading a couple lines of verbal diarrhea before I'd spot the user name and realize the rest just wasn't worth reading. It was like I was continually "rick rolling" myself. The ignore list was like weeding out the spam viagra and cialis emails into the junk mail folder in that case.

There are people on this site, and others who annoy the piss out of me, but they at least provide something of value once in a while. I enjoy reading peoples viewpoints and perspectives on things when they differ from mine. Petulant name calling and ego boosting posters who are never wrong about anything amuse me. It's mildly entertaining to me, and I feel embarrassed for them watching them continually dig a hole for themselves and then try and dig their way out in all directions instead of just saying "you know what, I was wrong, and learned something. thanks for the education".

The ignore lists on forums should have a built in function so that once 20 or some other pre determined number of people put a user on the ignore list they get banned. A way of the herd thinning itself without moderator intervention.

You know, I *work* with guys like this, every single day. Some people are actually like that in "real life". I keep a large container of antacid tablets (orange flavored) in top of my toolbox at work. Maybe that's why it bugs me so much to go home, go online, and get more of the same.

Yup, that right there is grounds for inclusion on the ignore list.
Only thing worse would have been Barry Manilow and Cory Hart doing backup vocals for Justin Bieber. Yuck!

'agree strongly' to use a marketing survey phrase.
Anyway this thread has made me really curious who it was got ignored in the beginning, though I can sort of guess. It's like the posts or even threads that get deleted and I missed whatever it was that got people riled. So frustrating for about an hour before I forget it ever happened.
A few years ago on an unrelated forum there was a section only long term users got to see even existed. It could carry discussions about 'difficult' people amongst a wider audience that just moderators long before they got out of hand.
