    Default Solid Aluminum Bar?

Hi. Just picked up two short pieces of this aluminum stock, the guy said it may have been from a signpost. Can anyone tell me what it is used for and where I could find a longer piece? I have two pieces, 15 inches and 17 inches long.

There are thousands and thousands of custom extrusions out there. Your piece could have been designed for
many things including a sign post but there's no way to know for sure...

That seems like a lot of material and design overkill for signage work. Might be for holding freeway signs to overpass mounts? Other wise, could be any specialty item, but again, has so much material in it...

I certainly don't know either, but those semi-circular channels, and the square ones as well, sort of suggest to me that they were there to engage other round/rectangular members. So perhaps it served as a divider of some sort between some panels.

    ....or perhaps not.

Things might be different in Nowonder and Nowhere. Doing an image search on road sign examples for/in your country might get your started.

I can't imagine sign posts using anything like that for a post. And as mentioned there are so many custom made extruded shapes that guessing would be just guessing.

Well, from the imperial, rather than those accursed metric, graduations on the Stanley tape measure, we might deduce, or maybe eliminate, likely locations.
(C'mon folks, we haven't had our daily metric/imperial brouhaha.)

You're right. I didn't notice that. But even so, I'd have only been able to eliminate you Brits, because I'm not sure who else calls it "aluminium."

Now hang on a minute, it appears that the rest of the world actually calls it ALUMINIUM.

Whereas you dumb 'navel gazers', are still trying to corrupt the Kings English. :-)
