Thread: How do I seperate the lathe bed from the cabinet?

    What's inside the cabinet? Is there a plate that the 4 bolts on the bottom of the risers thread into, or is it just 4 nuts & washers? The bed is a whole lot more rigid than the cabinet, and jacking might well deform the drip tray and cabinet. Could you get some heat on the drip tray from the underside, beneath where the risers are stuck down? Depending on what kind of goop Boxford used, it might soften and let you get a scraper blade in there.

    I also like stripping stuff down - I can sympathise, but sometimes it's better to leave stuck stuff stuck...

    I still don't see the issue. Did you flip the bed over yet and look up under the base pillars? It seems pretty clear to me that you'll find more bolts holding the pillars to the bed. Heck, in your top down picture there's even the open end of one of the bolt holes showing. A bolt which you would not be able to reach until you get up inside the riser pillars.
