    Default Where's Jerry?

Jerry hasn't posted in over 6 weeks (since 07-25-2019). I'm sure there's many of us who are wondering what's up with his sudden absence.

    Does anybody know?

It seemed like it was when he was in a discussion with the gentleman out of TX and he got a lil schooled and didnt like it. You know, some folks have to be correct all the time. Either way, still alive so thats good. JR

    As above.
Guy was great at giving it, prolly the bestest, but did'nt like taking it.
And never wrong, which could get tedious.
But i wish him no ill will and only good health.

+1 That is why I wasn't too surprised to learn he is active in local politics, even ran for a office a while back.

I am NOT sorry to be able to browse without an outburst from a self appointed " Expert on everything" giving , sometimes dubious, advice , on virtually every topic.
I am sure most of us are smart enough that we understand that we do not know everything, and are grateful from input from those who are prepared to share their knowledge and , sometimes, hard gained experience, on specialised, sometimes very obscure topics and procedures.

I must have missed that - what was the topic that finally tripped up "the great one"? lol

debating with Jerry was allot like debating with Evan, it's a no win situation every time for everybody, I remember first setting foot in here and getting into my first couple rebuttals with Evan and he told me right out front that I was going to lose all debates with him, why? because he went to debate school... so right there it told me that it's not about who's right or who's wrong - it's about who can pull off the best smoke and mirrors job, did someone mention politics? lol good comparison....

That being said - be it mastery of the google search engine or whatever, both those guys covered an incredible amount of ground and both do have fields in expertise that are well above average by a long shot... both also took a great deal of time to do write ups for others who had questions and for the most part "most" of the info was fairly solid...

This place is a mixed bag - kinda like a box of chocolates I guess... I kinda like that fact, could be allot worse - could be a sack of monsanto's GMO corn...

No doubt Evan is a sharp guy, who was helpful and shared a lot of excellent knowledge. But Evan liked to pretend and pontificate on topics for the sake of it, even where he lacked knowledge and experience. And he was dogmatic about it. That can be a disservice. The thing about the internet is you never know when or where you will bump into subject experts, often who quietly lurk, and who have enormous experience in a subject.

I am reminded a bit of that original Twilight Zone episode called Hocus-Pocus and Frisby, the gas station attendant. Frisby told great big whoppers, and the character was very well played. He was abducted by aliens, who chose him because he was obviously one of the very smartest humans on the planet. A classic. Pretty sure that is what happened to Evan, and he is with them now.

Here is another classic, a simple question and request, that was taken on a tangent, where the rubber didn't quite meet the road... Somewhere in the HSM Twilight Zone..

I find it amazing how some people "keep tabs" on other people.

it's part of being a community, especially one made up largely of the upper echelons of the age brackets.
