Or I just could go get me one of these?

HUrrah.. Looks kinda like a neat old 64 pan to these old eyes.. WAY to go Harley...

Except it has good brakes, and ... road gearing..

Are you looking for a vendor or a hobby person to do this? The only vendor I know of is in Springfield mass, but one may be in Springfield VT as well, if they still annodize.

I just talked to a guy on the phone.. with the price he gave me $300 plus shipping.. I may just buy a large plastic barrel and some acid/lye and do it here. THE dc welder should have enough current. How to seal it thou?

Why not just do what the factory does and paint it?

    Or

Seal it after anodizing and dying by boiling.

My friend works at a plating factory in Lincoln, NE, where they do lots of Harley aftermarket parts. Have no idea what they would charge. The name is Lincoln Plating Co., I think. I know that they anodize and chrome plate lots of stuff. You might contact them yourself to see what they would charge. Good luck--Mike.

    David,

I have some big parts I am thinking of anodizing also. I have a couple of stock watering tubs made from a 55 gallon plastic food stuff barrel cut in half. It should do to hold my parts and a wheel too. After I'm done just wash really well and it shouldn't hurt the horses.

Oh yeah, got half a 55 gallon drum to boil it in?

Actually evan, you are onto something there.

You have seen my plain jane 120 volt heating element from a hot water heater? It is in a threaded coupling welded to a angle iron.

You immerse the element up to the neck where the wires are and be real careful not to splash or ripple the fluid over the wires. It is plugged straight into a GFCI receptacle I test often. I unplug it when the dye steams. No thermostat, no control. Manual. that's probably serve to boil too. Though it will take a while to do so with so much fluid.

You can boil water in a leaf. A dear friend who is a boyscout leader does just that for the children to awe them.. A plastic foodstuff barrel will work. I am on a scrounging mission now.

    Evan:
Thanks friend. If I can show you anything about anyway I do it just holler. That is as cheap as shipping the wheel, much less paying someone else to do my hobby for me.

Around here we get those 250 gallon platic skid tanks, the ones on pallets with the wire cage around them.Best I can remember vegtable oil comes in them, place near the house gets $30 for them, once the plactic tank is gone the wire baskets work good for scrap control.
