    Question OT: SU Carbs

A freind of mine brought the two SU carbs and manifold off a 1962 Volvo to me. The problem is a fuel leak where the jet feed tube screws into the bottom of the float bowl. It has a peice of what appears to be nylon tubing with a ferrule, the problem is one of the ferrules is missing. The local imported car parts store informed me that there haven't been SU parts since the Carter administration. I can make a new ferrule but I think it would be cheaper to buy one, does anyone have any ideas where I can find one of these?

SU carbs. Thanks. I haven't thought about those beasts for many years. Make a new part. Or, better yet, change to a different carb. Some Del Ortos, or Webbers. Or anything else. Try tuning four SUs on an original Mini Cooper. HA!

..........Had a '61 TR-3A, and a '67 TR-4A-IRS. I used to know THOSE type SU's in and out. Always experimenting with different oil mixes in the dashpot dampers. Used to tune'em with a bit of vacuum line. One end at the base of the piston and the other in the ear, listening for the different hissssssssssssssssssss! Brother got a floating ball carb equalizer for a multi cylinder bike, and that was the end of the tube in the ear

Every time the subject of SU carbs comes up, some wiseacre that used to work on 'em always has to ask "What does SU stand for?"

Geez, I can't believe I finally get to ask the question before someone else does.

There is a local shop here that sells parts for British Imports. I know they make and resell SU carb kits for the MGB, Triumph et al. IIRC, the carbs are the same.

Wait, Victoria British LTD. in Kansas (?) is a company I used to get parts from when the local place charged too much . Might google them.

Now I'm going to think about my MGB all day, Thanks !

I used to have an MGA, MGB, Morris Minor and an Austin Cambridge (NOT all at the same time). It's a sort of love/hate relationship. I (and my wife) really miss the '67 MGB.
I sold it to buy an airplane...

Sheddin' a little tear here. Remember my old 72 MGB fondly, and the piece of hose in the ear to balance the carbies
