Post A tool bench I made

Here are photo's of a toolbench I just got done with.

I used maple for the top. I can't work in wood, no tools, but a friend did a nice job putting it together for me.

I made three racks to hold the lathe tooling.

I also made a rack for the milling machine tool holders.

I milled out two peices of plastic and made drawers for the milling cutters.

The bottom shelf is 1/4" plate for rotary table, indexer, angle plates, etc

This is the back of bench. I made two racks for drill rod, threaded rod, key stock, etc.

And finally, each end of the bench I put toolholders.

Almost everything was salvage or just laying around. The bench works great because now everythiing for the mill and lathe are in one place and it can be rolled to each machine.

Nice job! Now of course you realize with that beautiful maple top you only have two choices: never use it, or cover it up so it doesn't get damaged.

Also, the real challenge begins, always putting things back where they belong when you are done using it. Some serious retraining coming up.

    good evening.

nice bench, Michael. well thought out. i have been thinking about what would be best for me to do about tools like that. ideally, i would like 2, one for the mill and one for the lathe, but it is gonna be hard enough to find space for one. i need a bigger shop. obviously you think better than i do.

i hope you will not be offended if i sort of duplicate your idea. is there a copyright? do i need to send you a royalty?

John S.; i think that is what they call a floor. if it is, i have part of one in my shop. i am looking for the rest of it. as i recall, it was there once. have you seen it?

thanks for a good idea, Michael.

    peace.

Very nice. I've been thinking of a rolling workbench for use at work and you've given me some nice ideas there. BTW how do you guys manage to keep your shops so clean? I've got a small machine shop setup at work and it's a real chore keeping in clean, especially if I'm running the mist coolant on the CNC or the flood on the manual. Darn chips stick to everything.

That's nice! I especially like the toilet paper roll on the side for when you don't want to go in the house
