    Post Enco feed brush question

Started fooling with some Servo and Enco power feeds today. Got the Servo up to speed but I need the big plastic gear underneath. The Enco is working but after a few seconds the overload pops out. I can reset it but it does the same thing again. It had a bunch of oil in it and the armature was scuffed up. I cleaned it up and turned the armature and it began working the way it does now. It did nada before. I've had it apart about a bazillion times and the only thing I can see is that the brushes leave dark tracks on the armature. Is it possible that the brushes got soft or oil impregnated? It sparks like a mother when it's running.
BIG difference in the build quality of Enco vs Servo. Servo's built like a tank!

I would question the composition of the brushes, sounds like you have a bad set. I would hit either my local starter/altenator rebuild or electric motor repair shop for some new ones.

The case was full of oil when I got it and my application of brake cleaner probably did little for the integrity of the brushes
It did clean it up pretty good though...
