Did the post from Ryan at J&L Industrial get pulled? Given I usually avoid input on those topics, (advertising), this time I did, and was curious as to where it went.

Paying Attention Is Not That Expensive.
AND, POOF IT WAS GONE, THANK YOU NEIL.
So, it was pulled. Thanks.
Paying Attention Is Not That Expensive.
Are we talking about the $20 tool holder post?
John.
so you few are happy it was pulled.
with this precedent am i to infer that now any soul who describes or recomends any commercial supplier or service that cost money will be banned from here?
i still feel the guy was trying to help out some people looking for products, as he stated.
i wouldnt blame him if he blew this place off and never came back...jim

I believe me telling some one to remove the stick out of their butt had something to do with the post being pulled, but never got any nasty emails from neil, so I dunno.

NAW, it was the rest of the whineing and slams and so on that went on that got it pulled, but I for one still say that it is Neils place and only he may scold someone for posting the rule breaking posts,if they are rule breaking indeed.
billh;
and i thought it was me scolding someone for having a bad camera day and telling them to complain to the Girl Scouts.
most of what i say is in jest anyway to relieve tension and depression.
I JUST LIKE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!!
sorry for the outburst...jim

First, let me say I am not trying to drag this out. I was not "happy" to see the post pulled. I was disappointed at what I had last seen it turn into (trading barbs), though. I was just wondering if anyone else looked at it in one of the ways I had brought up. Toolmaker Jim included it in his post, the part about "recommending" suppliers that I had included in my original post on the original topic. Is that adverising? I do not think so. I think it is trying to help someone find what they are looking for. As Jim mentioned, it seems he was only trying to help. If someone asks about where they can get this or that, since I believe this forum is for helping each other with a problem they may be having, related to the forum, I believe myself, as many others will continue to "recommend" suppliers. I will try to leave it alone now.

I have an idea for Neil. He adds another page to the three we currently have and call it say "Marketplace" or "The Swap Meet". The rules there are different than the rest of the forum. Advertise all you want, sell your surplus machines, whatever. Only it costs you so much an add (say $5 payable by PayPal). It could generate income that will help keep this site alive (I know we all enjoy the free sandbox). Commercial advertising would be more expensive but not overly so. Would it hurt Villiage Press's revenues? I really don't think so but I am not a marketing expert. But if you went to a bank 25 years ago and told them you wanted to start a magazine for Home Shop Machinists and you were looking for start up capital they would of booted your keister out the door while laughing theirs off IMO.
