    What is the proper name for this bearing? It recirculates needles (more like short cylinders) line a linear guide, but is split into two pieces (so you need a pair to guide a block on one axis of travel. The needles must recirculate in the block, now float freely between the two ground profiles. For example, this is NOT what i'm talking about:


    Looks like this, but I think this is a cuttaway image from a pillowblock linear guide:



    Needles can recirculate: I'm looking for the split version of this:

    you were pretty close. They're just called linear recirculating roller bearings.
