  • Victor welding tip sizes

My new Superrange II Victor has a model 100FC torch handle. The one welding tip that came with it was a 2-W-1. The leading '2' being, of course, the tip size. I've since gotten a 0-W-1 and a 3-W-1.

But what about the W and the 1? Obviously one or both, individually or in combo, indicate a fit for that 100FC handle, but I don't know which.
Can anyone shed some light on Victor's scheme used to identify mating tips and torches?
Specifically will my handle accept ONLY tips marked W-1? I'd like to acquire others that I feel I might need, and the prices for the genuine Victors are pretty steep. So I've been watching ebay, and just saw a couple on ebay described as "6 type 1" and "11 type 1".

    My guess.

I have the Victor Super Range II kit.

W probably stands for welding tip vs. cutting or rosebud. The 1 probably indicates it fits the 100FC handle. I have the 3-W-1 and 2-W-1 welding tips.

The rosebud tip has 6-MFA-1. I assume it's a size #6, rosebud (indicated by MFA), for handle 100FC.

    Like I said, my guess.

AirGas or Praxair should have a Victor catalog that lists the cutting, heating & welding tips for your torch. They'll usually photocopy or fax this to you.

I haven't found any difference in welding tips between Victor & Radnor (AirGas brand). There's a HUGE difference in cutting tips, Victor heats faster & cuts cleaner.

The Victor W series welding tips fit the 300 series torches and are the large style, which come with the Journeyman outfit they sell. The W series welding tips fit the Victor 315C, 310C, WH350, HD 310C, HD 310R torch handles and the 320 torch extension.

The Victor style W-1 series welding tips fit the 100 torches and are the medium style, like the one that comes with the Performer
outfit. The W-1 series welding tips fit Victor 100C and WH260 torch handles.

Victor style W-J series welding tips fit Victor J-28, J-40 and the J-100C torch handles.

The MFA-1 (rosebud) series heating tips fit the Victor 315C, 310C, WH350, HD 310C, HD 310R torch handles and the 320 torch extension.

And last the MFA J series (rosebud) heating tips fit the Victor J-28, J-40 and J-100C torch handles.
