  • Proper speed for turning

Can someone tell me or direct me to a website that can tell me what the proper speed is for turning specific metals.

    For example,

Cold rolled XXX RPM for HSS and XXX RPM for carbide
    Etc....

    Thanks

This ME Consultant program, with free, quite usable demo, is available from:

        http://mrainey.freeservers.com/

You choose the metal and operation, defaults appear and you can change work diameter, feed rate, max RPM for your machine, etc. Even the required horsepower is shown giving you an idea of what your machine can (in theory) handle.

You can also edit the material table and add your own or modify others. It also has threads and other good stuff. Den
