  • Pexto Shear #137L

    36" width/16ga. capacity.
I have an opportunity to buy this shear for $350.00. Is it worth that much? It is in very good condition and has been used very little. Let me know what you think.
    Thanks

I'd buy it.... I'm looking for a 16ga shear right now actually... If it really cuts 16ga mild steel cleanly then I'd say it's well worth $350++.

It's a great product for a great price.

Make sure the blades are good.

Sheets come in 48" widths but you can always have them sheared to fit the 36" width of this shear.

I have one and if I were you, I would be calling the seller NOW before someone else buys it.

        Thanks guys...
Basically the answers I was expecting...
        The blades are good.
I am being offered the shear by a co-worker so it's a done deal...
        Now... where to put it...

You will make a very good buy. These are very good shears. I have a 52" Pexto shear.

I've got one eye-ball on this Shear that is local to me:

I don't have the room for it, otherwise I'd have both eye-balls on it

I picked up a 6 foot Niagra shear. I found a local outfit to sharpen the blades for me - the local zamboni service :-) Did a really nice job.

                Mark,

I was wrong about that shear.. They are terrible and you definitely don't want it... Sorry about the mis-information! I'll take responsibility and buy it from you to avoid the disapointment...

I have one as well and I like it. It falls under the heading of not using it much but essential when you need it. After all, how many trips to a shop for nickel dime stuff equates to $350?. If that isn't enough reason remember the prime directive: there is no such thing as enough tools

Thanks for all of the support, guys, Except for you Adrian... I think you are trying to pull the wool over my eyes and I'm not going to fall for it...
This is a done deal and I will be picking the shear up this weekend sometime... The back gauge is missing though so, if you see or know of one for sale, let me know... I can probably make one if comes down to that.

Yup, you got a good deal.. I just bought a new 16ga China shear for 3x what you paid. Hopefully mine is at least 1/3rd as good as yours

The nice thing about Pexto is that a 16 gauge shear will shear 16 gauge. No so for an import 16 gauge shear they are usually over-rated by one or two gauges.

                          Yup, that's what I'm expecting... I just hope it's not over-rated by 4 gauge.
