  • EXhaust Pipe for my Generator

I havea contractors generator and it is good for may thing around the shop and on job sites, but I need to extend the exhaust pipe further away and upwards if possible.

It is the 15Kw version of this one:

What kind of pipe do I need to use or can I get something from the motorcycle shop? If flex exhaust pipe available in smaller diameters?

MSC sells flexible metal hose in various diameters. Probably McMaster-Carr does too.

But I'd first ask at some auto-parts places to see what might be available that way.

A common enough problem. The best answer is to go to the local exhaust pipe shop. They have the special gear and a selection of pipes to suit your pocket. Say Chrome with a megaphone might be just the go. Or a big buick muffler to quiten things down.
Stuffing around with flexible pipe is apita and they soon leak. Carbon monoxide that is.dont go there.
you could buy the bits and make it up but its not very interesting work. Give the blokes at the local shop some thing interesting to do.
PS if its a B&S power unit they have the right muffler for performance. Off the shelf. Take your cheque book they aint cheap.Probably wont direct exhaust upwards tho. Bobby.

Put a rain cap on it (same as diesel truck).

Don't make it more than about 18" or you'll cause too much back pressure and burn the exhaust valves. You'd be better off making a new exhaust header to scavenge into a vertical muffler.
